I'm not an avid sailor, I get sea-sick easily, and although I've sailed in the Mediterranean and in Sweden, I'm far better on land. That said, being on a sailboat for two weeks, is so relaxing, liberating and fun, that I get tempted back every time and fight my demons till I win!
So to me, Team SCA, the all women team racing in the Volvo Ocean Race, are my true heroines. It's one of the toughest ocean races out there, and I think they're terribly brave!
This was the view from my terrace last Sunday when the race departed from Lisbon. Suddenly a really strong wind seemed to blow them away and Team SCA was second to last in the race. Amazingly the've recovered, and facing rough conditions, extreme physical challenges, against all the other male crews, they've just won the last leg!
So to all you women out there, who think "I can't !" , yes YOU CAN! Especially if we stick together, we can form really strong winning teams and fulfill our dreams !
