Why I've always loved a Nancy Meyers movie!
Because the storyline is often heart warming and funny, and also, because
THE HOUSES ARE INCREDIBLE!
Check out these amazing homes, here, and why everybody loves these houses!
Where to eat right now? 2 great restaurants to try out...
Directly from Peking to Lisbon, Quanjude is the considered the best Peking Duck restaurant in China, and for its first foreign outpost in Europe, it has thankfully come to our capital. I can personally vouch for this crunchy, moist duck as I've been lucky enough to try it in Beijing and love it!! The duck is cooked in the traditional way, in a brick stove, with wood from fruit bearing trees, just the way it has been since 1864. The recipe was a huge success since its inception, and was served to the Imperial Family as created by Yang Quanren, the founder, a chicken and duck salesman from Tiananmen Square. Unmissable, take the whole family and then some...
Now I've never been to India, much to my chagrin, and not for lack of opportunity, but it just hasn't worked out. But I find it a fascinating country, and I have a very vested interest in it and its people. And if you follow the kitchen on this blog, you will definitely see a curry or three, popping up from time to time. I love Indian food, and could eat it for breakfast, ( also Mexican!!), and have a great new place in Lisbon via Berlin. Yes, the lovely Indian owner Aparna, formerly in fashion, changed her life around and has two very successful Indian restaurants in Germany. Fortunately for us, she has now expanded her empire to Lisbon.
The food is divine, a take on modern Indian, with the freshest of ingredients delivered daily, and a light approach to her curries, not heavy but full of flavour. The dosas are crispy, light and exquisitely filled with a varied mix of flavours. All this in a cool and relaxed atmosphere, what more could you want?
